Cannon Cattle
Cannon Cattle was started in 2017 when we bought our first set of purebred Beefmaster cows. Prior to that we had been in the commercial cow-calf sector for several decades. Our operation is based out of southwest Georgia and north central Florida, where we currently run over 150 head of cows. We still maintain our commercial operation to use as recipient cows for our purebred operation, as well as to raise feeder steers and top end replacement females.
We pride ourselves on high performing, easy fleshing cattle that work for you. We demand all of our cattle to produce a marketable calf every year while maintaining their condition in the harsh gulf coast climate. Cannon Cattle believes in feed efficiency with such confidence that we have invested in a C-Lock SmartFeed system to test all of our bulls for feed efficiency. We believe the bulls that are proven feed efficient can produce offspring that will strive in any environment, whether that is in the pasture or in the feedlot. We collect every data point that is possible so that whenever you buy our cattle, you have all of the information possible to make the best decision for your ranch. Lyssy Beefmasters
Lyssy Beefmasters is a family owned and operated, third generation, purebred Beefmaster Ranch in South Central Texas. Established in 1972, the ranch is owned by brothers Lawrence and George Lyssy and managed by Lawrence’s son, Lauren Lyssy. Lyssy Beefmasters currently run approximately 300 head of cows which allows them to host a bi-annual production sale as well as participate in yearly bull sales.
The Lyssy’s have always prided themselves on raising cattle that meet the industry demand for performance, while still being able to excel in the harsh climates they can be used in. Fertility and longevity are a huge focus for Lyssy Beefmasters. The Lyssy herd is made up of cow families whose lineage can be traced back multiple generations, because the Lyssys have continually focused on keeping cow families that have proven their maternal value. The Lyssy’s have sent cattle and genetics to numerous Central and South American countries, as well as cattle to Thailand. Their cattle have gone as far north as the Great Lakes region and as far south as South Africa. Our cattle can meet the demands of almost any climate while still maintaining their ability to perform.
Lyssy Beefmasters strives to continually utilize current technologies to test the abilities of their genetics. The Lyssy’s have the longest tested herd on feed efficiency test and continue to test their bull crops on feed efficiency yearly. With an industry that is constantly evolving and creating a product with less inputs, efficiency testing is invaluable and Lyssy genetics have proven their ability to convert. The Lyssy’s are also staunch believers in using carcass ultrasound to evaluate their genetics to ensure they are producing cattle that can perform as well on the rail as they do in the pasture.

S3 Beefmasters located in Poteet, Tx is owned by Abe and Grace Saenz and managed by their son Daniel (Danny), his spouse Melanie, and his daughters Bailey and Kinley. Our Saenz family began its affection for Beefmaster Cattle in the 1960s with the introduction of registered Beefmaster bulls on commercial cow calf operations rooted in Duval and Jim Wells Counties.
Third and fourth generations now call Poteet TX in Atascosa County home, and operate a registered cow herd that includes heifer and bull development projects to genetically improve seedstock for producers seeking to advance their herds. Our goal is to continue the legacy started years ago, while promoting quality genetics that perform. We strive to meet the demands of the commercial cowman while keeping the standards of the breed at the forefront of our program. Our animals are DNA typed, feed efficiency evaluated, and performance tested through carcass ultrasound scanning.
